Individualized learning in Vocational Education and Training

- HANDS-ON METHODS AND PRACTICE-BASED PRINCIPLES

MAPPING aims to support teachers and school leaders who want to implement or to improve work with individual study plans in VET. The focus is on organizational context, pedagogy and design of teaching sessions.

The work of partners from 5 countries has led to the following three results:

  1. The first core result is a MAP: A guideline containing models, methodical-didactical instruments and crucial principles for the implementation and improvement of an individualized learning approach. MAP has been launched as the web-app Quality MAP. MAP is available as a European version in English,  as well as national versions in Slovenian and Dutch.
  2. The second product has been developed and implemented as a range of teacher training units, based on MAP. Besides several national versions, a transnationally co-created MOOC has successfully been trial-run with a number of global VET-teachers.
  3. Thirdly, the project contributes with multimedia documentation of best practice cases from trial runs in the 5 partner countries during the project period. The documentation visualizes methodologies for supporting individualized learning and  is integrated into MAP as well as the teacher training units.

MAPPING is a transfer-of-innovation project (Oct. 2013 – Sept. 2015) under the EU´s program Lifelong Learning, focusing on individualized learning in vocational education and training. The project partners from Finland, Denmark, Slovenia, United Kingdom / Wales and Holland exchanged experiences, transferred best practice cases and co-created innovation as a contribution to the European strategy 2020, Bruges Communiqué.

MAPPING´s results contribute to the European priority of improving quality assurance systems in VET. During the development, the partners made use of earlier developed methods of self-evaluation and peer review.
